I was browsing through the web when I came across this issue and oh my gosh, the painful feelings goes straight to the pit of my stomach. I cannot comprehend why some people would hurt animals like this. What have the animals done that they had to be treated in such way?
When I read this news, I felt like puking. The twin brothers who set a pitbull on fire – Tremayne Johnson & Travers Johnson, 17 – was indicted by the Baltimore City Grand Jury on five counts of animal abuse and cruelty. But last February, the jury ended it as a mistrial. Three years ago, a police officer was doing her rounds when she saw a live pitbull was on fire but the few people nearby did nothing to help the dog. She then rescued the pitbull and was taken care by BARCS who named the pitbull Phoenix. However, due to the extensive burns (95% whole body), Phoenix’s kidneys failed and she had to be euthanized because her immune system couldn’t handle the damage that the fire had caused.
Then there was also the case of a cat called Mittens that was intentionally doused with lighter fluid and burned. She suffered third and fourth degree burns and lost her ears. When she was burned, she managed to roll on the ground to douse the fire before returning to her three kittens. Yes, she had kittens. This also happened at Baltimore.
Isn’t it painful to even read about this? If you Google “animal burned alive”, you’ll see so many news of animals being treated with such cruelty that sometimes makes you wonder if these people are in fact the REAL animals.
It has been proven psychologically that a person who would hurt or murder animals cruelly is also capable of murdering other human beings. It is only a matter of time before they would start killing other people. Columbine’s Eric Harris, D.C. serial killer Lee Boyd Malvo, murderer Kip Kinkle and many others “practiced” on animals before graduating to people. Andrew Golden, 11, and Mitchell Johnson, 13, killed dogs in Jonesboro, Arkansas prior to gunning down four students and one teacher. Mississippi 16-year-old Luke Woodham mortally stabbed his mother, killed three classmates and shot seven more. Later in court, he confessed to bludgeoning his dog with baseball bats and setting her on fire. It’s clear that there is a link of animal-to-human violence.
This type of cruelty is also happening here in Malaysia, just not issued publicly. So what can we do? Please lend your voices to our animal friends, everyone!
And then I saw this video, a some sort of competition in China and I got angrier than ever. What is wrong with these people? OMG!
Help stop these cruelty. Help sign the petitions and be the voice to those who couldn’t speak for themselves.
